AGHS Pirate Counseling

So...what do I do, and when do I do it?

FALL (September-November)

-Start your Senior year by finalizing your college list!

-Take advantage of your 2 free college visit days to get a feel for the campus.

-Meet with college reps who visit AGHS.

-Attend College Fairs.

-Consider who will write your recommendation letters.

-Register for the ACT or SAT if you feel you need to improve your score.

-Fill out and complete your college applications before the deadlines.

-Check with Mrs. Beckner to make sure your colleges get the materials they need (transcripts, ACT scores, etc).

-Start working on college application essays.

-Explore financial aid options at your prospective colleges to plan your budget.

 

WINTER (December-February)

-Complete your FAFSA to ensure you get the most possible financial aid for college. 

-Check our scholarship bulletin board and webpage often for scholarships. Apply!!

-Turn in housing applications early to get priority placement.

 

SPRING (March-May)

-Verify your financial aid before making any final decisions on your college budget.

-Send your final transcripts to your college after graduation. 

-GRADUATE!!!!!

 

SUMMER (June-August)

-Begin preparing for your college coursework. 

-Research student organizations, on-campus living, and college life and get involved early!
